Authorship Policy
Authorship Policy – JCAI
The Journal of Computing and AI (JCAI) adheres to the authorship guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure fair and transparent attribution of intellectual contributions in all published research. This policy upholds academic integrity and accountability in scholarly publishing.
Criteria for Authorship
To qualify as an author, individuals must meet all of the following criteria:
-
Substantial Contribution
-
Participation in the conception or design of the work; acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
-
Contributions must directly influence the scientific or technical content of the paper.
-
-
Drafting or Revising
-
Involvement in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
-
-
Final Approval
-
Agreement to the final version of the manuscript prior to submission and acceptance for publication.
-
-
Accountability
-
Willingness to be accountable for all aspects of the work, including ensuring that questions related to accuracy or integrity are properly investigated and resolved.
-
Order of Authorship
-
The order of authors should reflect each individual’s relative contribution and must be mutually agreed upon by all co-authors prior to submission.
-
Contributors who do not meet the full authorship criteria (e.g., technical assistance, general supervision) should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section.
Responsibilities of Authors
-
Ensure that all eligible contributors are listed and that no one is unjustifiably excluded.
-
Disclose any potential conflicts of interest to the editorial office at the time of submission.
-
Collaborate with co-authors to respond to any inquiries regarding the research or authorship after publication.
Addressing Authorship Disputes
In the event of a dispute:
-
JCAI encourages all parties to discuss the matter openly and respectfully.
-
If unresolved, the Editor-in-Chief may mediate or seek an independent review guided by COPE recommendations.
-
JCAI reserves the right to suspend review or retract published articles in cases of confirmed unethical authorship practices.
Unacceptable Authorship Practices
-
Honorary authorship (crediting individuals who did not contribute meaningfully) is strictly prohibited.
-
Guest authorship (including individuals solely to enhance the paper's credibility) is also not allowed.
JCAI is committed to fostering ethical authorship practices that reflect the true intellectual contributions of all involved. Authors are encouraged to consult the Editor-in-Chief for any clarification related to authorship or publication ethics.
