Retraction Policy

The Journal of Computing and AI (JCAI) adheres to the COPE Retraction Guidelines (https://publicationethics.org/node/19896) to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and transparency. Retractions are issued to correct the literature and ensure the reliability of scholarly communication.

When Retractions Are Appropriate

A published article in JCAI may be retracted if:

  • There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to:

    • Major error (e.g., miscalculation, flawed methodology)

    • Fabrication or falsification of data (e.g., image or result manipulation)

  • The article constitutes plagiarism

  • The work is a case of redundant publication, having been previously published without proper citation or disclosure

  • The article includes unauthorized use of copyrighted materials or third-party data

  • There are serious legal or ethical issues, such as:

    • Copyright infringement

    • Defamation

    • Privacy violation

    • Unethical research involving human or animal subjects

  • The peer review process was compromised or manipulated

  • The authors failed to disclose a major conflict of interest that could have impacted editorial or peer-review decisions

Retraction Notice Requirements

All retraction notices issued by JCAI will:

  • Be clearly labeled as a retraction

  • Be linked to the original article in all digital formats

  • Include the title, authors, and citation of the retracted article

  • State who is issuing the retraction (e.g., editor, publisher, or author(s))

  • Provide a factual and objective explanation for the retraction

  • Be freely accessible to the public (not behind a paywall)

  • Be issued promptly to minimize the impact of erroneous content

When Retractions Are Not Warranted

Retraction is generally not appropriate in the following cases:

  • Authorship disputes where the research content remains valid

  • Correctable errors that do not compromise the main findings (in such cases, a correction may be issued instead)

  • Inconclusive evidence of misconduct or when investigations are ongoing

  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest after publication, unless the undisclosed conflict would have significantly influenced editorial decisions or public interpretation

Ethical Commitment

JCAI is committed to ensuring that retraction decisions are made with care, free from bias, and in accordance with COPE’s ethical guidelines. We support transparent communication of research corrections and hold the integrity of the scientific record as a top priority.
