Peer Review Policy

The Journal of Computing and AI (JCAI) follows a rigorous single-blind peer review process to ensure the publication of high-quality, original research in the fields of artificial intelligence, computing, and intelligent systems. In this process, reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, but the authors do not know the reviewers' identities.

JCAI upholds international publishing standards, ensuring transparency, fairness, and academic integrity throughout the review cycle. Manuscript acceptance is not guaranteed, and all submissions must meet the journal’s editorial and technical requirements through a structured evaluation process.

Steps in the Peer Review Process

No. Step Estimated Time
1 Internal Editorial Screening 2 days
2 External Peer Review (upon passing initial screening) 15–30 days
3 Communication of Reviewer Feedback to Authors 2 days
4 Submission of Revised Manuscript (minor/major revisions) 7–30 days
5 Submission of Compliance Report (for major revisions, if applicable) 7 days
6 Final Review and Acceptance Decision 3–7 days
Total Estimated Time (Submission to Acceptance) 29–78 days

If a manuscript does not pass the initial editorial screening, it is returned to the author without proceeding to peer review.

During the peer review phase, manuscripts may receive one of the following decisions:

  • Acceptance (as is)

  • Acceptance with minor revisions

  • Major revision required

  • Rejection

Expedited Review Clause

In exceptional cases, the review and publication timeline may be shortened if:

  • Reviewers submit their evaluations promptly

  • Authors respond quickly and thoroughly to revision requests

  • No significant delays occur in compliance checks

However, review quality and academic integrity will never be compromised for speed. JCAI remains committed to maintaining its transparent, unbiased, and standardized peer-review procedure.

Note to Authors:
Authors are strongly encouraged to address reviewer comments meticulously and adhere to revision timelines to avoid unnecessary delays. The peer-review process is a collaborative effort to uphold the quality and credibility of AI and computing research published by JCAI.
